Here’s a Brandon Scott Gorrell poem that I like
He kinda hangs out with Tao Lin I think
At least on the internet
I don’t think it’s from anything published

“…we place ‘street cred-like’ importance on how well-traveled someone is, and we use our perception of our own ‘street cred’ to make a comparative analysis. This analysis is then used as a guide for future interaction, e.g., the subjects on which to speak authoritatively and on which to speak humbly or the perceived relevance of specific changes in subject. The question helps to place others in a familiar category, which in turn gives us more control over reality.”
excerpt from MY HAIR WILL DEFEAT YOU, by Brandon Scott GorrellJeffrey opens Mozilla Firefox. He goes to Gmail. There are three new emails. “Last minute deals to Paris, Frankfurt, and more at Cheap-O-Air.com!” He clicks the box beside the subject line. He clicks the Delete button. The second email is from his ex-girlfriend. The subject line is “http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlmycQNOgq8.” He clicks the subject line. There is nothing written in the body of the email. He clicks ‘Inbox.’ The third email is from his ex-girlfriend. “ah, sorry, i didn’t mean to send that link to you… sorry… it was meant for somebody else.” He clicks the boxes beside both emails from his ex-girlfriend. He clicks the Delete button.
“It’s 4:10 AM and my day is already over,” Jeffrey thinks. He lies on his back and looks at the ceiling. He falls asleep.

When I think ‘What is Tao doing right now?’ I have an image of his face illuminated by the glow of the computer screen. His facial expression is neutral as he slowly spoons thin pieces of seaweed into his mouth. Typing rapidly, he emits strange, terrible noises that express how he feels in relation to what appears on the computer screen in front of him. I feel that Zachary German is pacing somewhere outside of Tao’s room.
